Desert Rhino and Elephant Walking Expedition 7 nights / 8 days - May up to July 2009
GENERAL DESCRIPTION For more than twenty years, the Save the Rhino Trust uses its resources to protect the black rhinoceros from extinction. The endangered animals are studied in the Palmwag area.
During the tour, guests will accompany the 'ships of the desert' during an eight-day adventure. They will go on a hike through the oldest desert in the world, where the SRT takes you deep in the heart of the Namib Desert in search of these rare animals. This way, you will get access to usually inaccessible areas.
SHORT SCHEDULE Day 1 Palmwag Lodge Day 2 Early-morning car tour to the north towards Mbakondja Camel Camp, where you will meet the SRT team. Afterwards, you will drive to the south to a camping site near Aub River. Day 3 Safari-drive to the west, towards Barab River Day 4 Safari-drive further west, towards Okomutati and Kudu Springs Day 5 Continue towards Hunkab Spring, night in Adventurer Camp Day 6 Parting from SRT-guides, transfer to Hoanib Camp Day 7 Kaokoland, Hoanib Camp Day 8 Flight to Palmwag Lodge
WHAT DOES THIS SAFARI OFFER YOU? Discover remote areas, largely not accessible by car. An active trip, since the guests will accompany local researchers in their work. Spectacular landscapes and wildlife, especially the desert elephant and the black rhinoceros. You will get to know several types of plants, such as the special Welwitschia. The camping sites differ from luxurious tents to modest 'wild camping' tent camps. Hoanib Camp offers you safaris by car and on foot during the day.

Namibian Mountain Bike Safari 5 nights / 6 days - May up to July 2009
GENERAL DESCRIPTION For guests with a reasonable physical condition, this safari is a unique way to experience the wildlife in northwestern Namibia: it is a combination of both mountainbike and car safaris in the spectacular desert area, housing the famous desert elephant and black rhinoceros. During the end of the day, it is lovely to relax with a drink and just enjoy the soft evening sky in the desert. Guests will be accompanied by a car in case they fail to complete the safari by bike.
