Namibia and Botswana are no countries suited for normal passenger cars. The roads are either made from asphalt, gravel or dirt. Lodges are usually situated several miles from the main road - the roads leading to the lodge are usually made from gravel or sand. In the rain season, roads are often less accessible. Where you can not continue with a normal passenger car, it is a wise idea to continue your journey in a 4x4 car. Normal passenger cars are not suited for these types of roads. They are not resistant to dust - something cars in Namibia and Botswana are often exposed to. Aside that, they do not have a 4x4's suspension which makes them quite less comfortable. The longer your journey is, the more risky it is to drive in a normal passenger car. To make your holiday as pleasant as possible, we advise you to drive a 4x4. All our fly-drives include a 4x4, without extra fees. As intermediary for Asco Car Hire/VCR, the biggest provider of 4x4 cars in southern Africa, we can book you a 4x4 at a discounted rate. With or without excess, with or without camping equipment. You can choose from different types of cars. For example, there is the Nissan Off Road 4x4 with a single or double cabin, suited for 4/5 people. There is the Toyota Landcruiser76 4x4 as well, suited for five people. Next to these two examples, there are many other possibilities. When booking your trip, we will make sure you have the car that best suits your individual wishes. For those who wish to go camping, it is possible to book a 4x4 with full camping gear. The most common choice is the 4x4 Double Cab equipped with one or more rooftops, but there are many other possibilities as well.
